NEW YORK MAKES JUNETEENTH OFFICIAL HOLIDAY.

NEW YORK MAKES JUNETEENTH OFFICIAL HOLIDAY.

Created : Jun. 23, 2020

In light of the death of George Floyd, thousands of New Yorkers took to the streets to commemorate Juneteenth, the June 19 date in 1865 which marks the end of slavery in the United States. This woman sitting on the ground, is crying behind her sign during the speech against racism and police violence. For the first time in New York City and in the state, Juneteenth will become an official city and school holiday in 2021. Marie Le Blé / The Daily View.
